2022’s most popular NFTs (so far)

Meebits

Meebits was founded by Larva Labs in May 2021. Meebits is a pixelated 3D avatar that may be used in the virtual world, and it has a similar vibe to CryptoPunks. There are 20,000 distinct characters in the NFT library that can be rendered. Depending on the rarity of the characters, their costs can reach hundreds of ETHs. An NFT, on the other hand, costs roughly $14,700 on average.

Shawn Yue Man-lok, a Hong Kong actor and singer, is a Meebits investor. Soby, a crypto Twitter influencer, is one of many celebrities who has a large number of Meebits.

Bored Ape Yacht Club

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is one of today’s most well-known NFT collections (BAYC). Talk show presenter Jimmy Fallon, artist Future, music producer DJ Khaled, and YouTuber Logan Paul are among those who have invested in BAYC. Eminem, the American rapper, is the most recent superstar to jump on board, owning a piece of digital art that looks like him. He also uses it as his profile photo on Twitter.

BAYC is a game created by Yuga Labs that contains animated apes with various traits and rarities that obstruct the Ethereum blockchain. A total of 10,000 distinct Bored Apes have been collected by the NFT project. Their values have risen in a few of months since their release in April 2021, making this collection one of the quickest appreciating collectibles in the business.

Cool Cats

Cool Cats is another NFT collection that has been making news, and it is based on the Ethereum blockchain. It was released in June 2021 and features 9,999 unique characters based on a blue cat animation. The combination of varied face expressions, features, and attires, however, is what distinguishes each of these characters.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this NFT is the developer’s ability to breed the characters for future generations. The largest bid to yet has been for a Zombie cool cat, which sold for US$3.5 million at auction. Until now, these NFTs can only be utilised as art, and their owners can participate in numerous community activities and giveaways.
Mike Tyson is one of the few celebrities who has Cool Cats NFTs to his name.

Mutant Ape Yacht Club

The Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) is a different endeavour from the BAYC that has a unique collection of apes.
MAYC debuted in August of 2021. The collection included 10,000 Mutant Apes, which sold for USD 96 million on the spot. However, the ‘mutation’ did not end there. MAYC might be made with a “vial of mutant serum or by minting a Mutant Ape in the public sale,” according to CoinGeko. This suggests that the developers of BAYC developed a unique mechanism that not only benefited holders of the original Bored Ape NFTs, but also helped the Mutant Apes gain popularity.
